Shiva with Markandeya Bronze statue

Meticulously handcrafted using the lost-wax casting method, this sculpture captures the dramatic moment when Shiva intervenes to shield the young devotee Markandeya from the clutches of Yama, the god of death.

According to legend, Markandeya, a boy sage blessed with deep devotion, was destined to die at the age of sixteen. On his final day, he clung to the Shiva Linga in unwavering prayer. As Yama approached to claim his soul, Lord Shiva emerged from the Linga in fierce wrath, striking down Yama to protect his devotee — granting Markandeya eternal life and proving that true devotion transcends even death.

This statue is a striking symbol of divine grace, fearlessness, and the triumph of devotion over fate. A profound addition to any sacred space, it embodies Shiva’s role as protector and destroyer of evil.
